Avocado Berry Hydrator

September 20, 2015 by Heather Obasare

This is a smoothie I love to make after I work out. The electrolytes from the coconut water hydrate, and the remaining ingredients refresh and energize. Plus, as an added benefit, its great for your immune system too!

Ingredients:

1 cup coconut water

1/2 a small avocado or 1/3 large avocado

1/2 cup frozen raspberries

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1/3 cup chopped cucumber

1/2 tablespoon grated ginger

1 tablespoon manuka honey

Fresh mint leaves

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

Note: If you use fresh berries instead of frozen add some small ice cubes to the mix.

The protein and rich nutrients from the hemp seeds & hemp milk, the potassium in the banana and the antioxidants in the cocoa powder all combine with the coffee to give a great burst of fuel to my morning. Plus it tastes delicious!

Choc-Banana Energy Smoothie

September 18, 2015 by Heather Obasare

Ingredients:

1 banana, sliced

1/2 cup of brewed coffee (I use strong coffee, however make it to whatever strength you prefer)

1 cup hemp milk (or milk of choice)

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

1 tablespoon hemp seeds

Small ice cubes

Directions

Add coffee, milk and banana to the blender and then add hemp seeds and cocoa powder.  add about 10-15 small ice cubes. Blend until smooth and enjoy!

Serves 2 small or 1 large.

Note: For me the sweetness of the banana is enough, however if you prefer  little sweeter, some honey or natural unrefined sugar could be added.
